Chile requires a 4.5x4.5 cm (531x531 pixels at 300 DPI) square passport photo with a plain white background, administered by the Servicio de Registro Civil e Identificación (Civil Registry). Chile is one of the few countries in the Americas that uses a square photo format, shared with the United States but at a slightly larger dimension. The Civil Registry captures photos on-site for in-person applications at their offices throughout Chile, but applicants at consulates abroad must supply their own photos. The photo must show a neutral expression with both eyes open and clearly visible, and no glasses are permitted.

- Image must be in sharp focus with natural skin tones and no filters

Conseils
- For domestic applications, photos are captured at Civil Registry offices, so arrive with a dark collared shirt for contrast
- For consular applications abroad, confirm the square 4.5x4.5 cm format with the specific consulate before printing
- Remove earrings, necklaces, and any accessories near the face before the photo session
- If taking the photo at home, use a tripod and timer to ensure the camera is at exact eye level
- Print on glossy or semi-glossy photo paper at 300 DPI for the sharpest result
