Overview
Bangladesh requires a 35x45 mm (413x531 pixels at 300 DPI) passport photo with a white background, administered by the Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP) under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The DIP introduced the Machine Readable Passport (MRP) and subsequently the e-Passport in 2020, both requiring ICAO-compliant biometric photos. Photos must show the full face from chin to crown with a neutral expression, and the applicant must not wear glasses. For e-Passport applications, photos are often captured on-site at regional passport offices, but applicants submitting through consulates abroad need to supply their own compliant photos.

Tips
- For e-Passport applications at DIP offices, photos are typically captured on-site, so arrive with hair neatly arranged away from the face
- When applying through a Bangladesh embassy or consulate, bring multiple printed copies on matte photo paper
- Wear dark clothing that contrasts with the white background for clear shoulder detection
- Remove all facial jewelry and piercings before the photo session
- Ensure no red-eye is present in the final image, as it will cause rejection during biometric scanning
