Overview
Cameroon's passports are issued by the Delegation Generale a la Surete Nationale (DGSN), the national police directorate that handles biometric passports. The standard photo is 35x45mm on a white background, with the head taking up a large share of the frame. Cameroon's biometric e-passport requires a clear, recent frontal portrait so the face maps cleanly to the chip data. Submit a full-colour image with sharp focus and natural tones.
A plain white background with no shadows or background detail.
Requirements
- Photo size must be 35x45mm (413x531 pixels at 300 DPI).
- Plain white background, evenly lit and free of shadows.
- Face the camera directly with a neutral expression.
- Eyes open, clearly visible, and not covered by hair.
- Recent photo taken within the last 6 months.
- Full colour with natural skin tones, no filters or edits.
- Head measured from top of hair to chin should be about 34mm.
- Head coverings permitted only on religious grounds, with the face fully visible.
Common Rejection Reasons
- Non-white or shadowed background.
- Head too small or too large for the required frame fill.
- Closed eyes, or eyes hidden behind hair or glare.
- Smiling, frowning, or open mouth.
- Blurred, dark, or over-edited image.
- Hats, sunglasses, or anything blocking facial features.
Tips
- Step back from the wall to keep shadows out of the white background.
- Keep the chin level and the head centred between the frame edges.
- Use even front lighting so both sides of the face match.
- Remove glasses if there is any reflection or if frames cross the eyes.
- Check the head fills enough of the frame, since Cameroon wants a tall head crop.
