Indonesia requires a 35x45 mm (413x531 pixels at 300 DPI) passport photo with a red background, administered by the Directorate General of Immigration (Direktorat Jenderal Imigrasi) under the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Indonesia is one of the very few countries that mandates a red background for passport photos, making it instantly distinctive. The red background was introduced to match Indonesia's national color and to aid in document verification. Photos must show the full face in a frontal view with neutral expression. For e-Passport applications, photos may be captured on-site at immigration offices, but standard passport applicants must supply their own compliant photos.
