Mexican passport photos must be 40x50mm as specified by the Secretaria de Relaciones Exteriores (SRE), which also requires a plain white background and prohibits all head coverings including religious items unless medically documented. Mexico's passport system captures live biometric photos at SRE offices during appointments, but applicants can bring their own compliant photos as well. The SRE is particularly strict about facial symmetry in lighting, rejecting photos where one side of the face appears brighter than the other.
