Overview

Qatar passports and IDs are issued by the General Directorate of Passports under the Ministry of Interior (MOI). The reference size used here is 35x45mm at 413x531 pixels, and the photo must be recent, in colour, and against a plain light background. The face must be straight, centred, and free of any digital editing. Religious head coverings such as the hijab or ghutra are allowed as long as the full face stays visible from the bottom of the chin to the top of the forehead.

A plain white or very light, even background with no shadows, patterns, or objects behind the head.

Requirements

  • Use the 35x45mm size at 413x531 pixels, taken within the last six months.
  • Keep the background plain white and evenly lit with no shadows behind the head.
  • Face the camera straight on with a neutral expression and the mouth closed.
  • Both eyes must be open and clearly visible, with no hair covering the eyes.
  • Head height from chin to crown should fill roughly 70 to 80 percent of the frame.
  • Religious head coverings are permitted if the whole face stays fully visible.
  • Submit the photo in colour with natural skin tones and sharp focus.
  • Centre the head in the frame with even space on both sides.

Common Rejection Reasons

  • Coloured, dark, or patterned backgrounds instead of plain white.
  • Glasses worn without a medical reason, or any glare on the lenses.
  • Smiling, frowning, or any expression other than neutral.
  • Shadows on the face or cast onto the background.
  • Head covering that hides part of the face such as the chin or hairline.
  • Blurry, pixelated, low resolution, or visibly edited images.

Tips

  • Shoot near a window in daytime to get soft, even light on the face.
  • Stand a step away from the wall to stop shadows forming behind you.
  • Remove regular glasses to avoid reflection and rejection.
  • Pin loose hair back so both eyes and the face outline stay clear.
  • Check the head fills the frame correctly before you submit.
