Overview

Senegal's passports are issued by the Direction de la Police des Etrangers et des Titres de Voyage (DPETV) under the national police. The photo is 35x45mm, and Senegal is more flexible on background than most, accepting white, light grey, or light blue as long as it stays uniform. The face should fill most of the frame in a straight frontal view. The image must be recent, sharp, and in full colour.

A uniform light background, white, light grey, or light blue, with no patterns or shadows.

Requirements

  • Photo size must be 35x45mm (413x531 pixels at 300 DPI).
  • Background must be plain white, light grey, or light blue and fully uniform.
  • Face the camera straight on with a neutral expression and closed mouth.
  • Both eyes open and clearly visible, with no hair across the eyes.
  • Recent photo, taken within the last 6 months.
  • Full colour image with even lighting and natural tones.
  • A very slight smile is tolerated, but avoid any exaggerated expression.
  • No glasses or headwear unless required for religious or medical reasons.

Common Rejection Reasons

  • Patterned, dark, or shadowed background.
  • Wide smile, frown, or other strong expression.
  • Eyes closed or obscured, or glare on glasses.
  • Photo too old to reflect current appearance.
  • Blurry, grainy, or poorly lit image.
  • Hats or sunglasses covering the face.

Tips

  • Pick one of the accepted light backgrounds and keep it shadow-free.
  • Keep any smile minimal, a relaxed neutral face is safest.
  • Light the face evenly from the front to avoid one dark side.
  • If you must wear glasses, tilt them slightly to remove lens reflections.
  • Centre the head and leave a small gap above the hair to the frame edge.
