Israel requires a 35x45 mm (413x531 pixels at 300 DPI) passport photo with a plain white background, administered by the Population and Immigration Authority (Rashut HaUkhlusin VeHaHagira). Israeli biometric passport photos must comply with ICAO 9303 standards and are processed through automated facial recognition systems at Population Authority offices. Since the introduction of the biometric passport in 2017, all photos must meet strict technical requirements. The face must occupy 70-80% of the frame height, and religious head coverings (kippah, tichel) are permitted provided they do not obscure any part of the face.
